WHAT:
Launched in August 2006, the Pretty in Purple™ Days (formerly Girls Night Out to Cut Out Domestic Abuse™)is a partnership between Purple Ribbon Council and salon and spa professionals to help raise awareness for domestic abuse and dating violence prevention and funds to support the most silent survivors — the children who have lost a parent to domestic homicide.

WHY:
Domestic abuse kills an average of 4 women everyday in the U.S.
About 11 children are orphaned by domestic violence homicide every day in the U.S.
1 in 3 teens report dating abuse
1 in 4 children are exposed to family violence at home
Children who witness and experience abuse at home are likely to continue the cycle into adulthood.
Domestic abuse and dating violence ARE PREVENTABLE!
The time is now to raise awareness, educate and engage more people at the grassroots level, and spread the message of prevention to help Break the Silence, Break the Cycle, Save Lives!
